One of the latest annual reports says Apple is the new leader of the most valuable brands in the world. The report has been developed by Interbrand, which is a brand consulting and corporate identity firm owned by Omnicom Group. It is this company, which has been announcing similar Best Global Brands reports since year 2001. The no. 1 of 2012 was Coca-Cola, which for the present year slid to no. 3.

With this development, Apple has not only become the number 1 global brand in the world by replacing Coca-Cola, it is also for the first time that the soft drink brand is not at the no. 1 position. Recent financial reports were also taken under consideration while making this list of top 100 brands.
28% Increase in 2013
Apple, which makes high-profile products such as iPhone and iPad, ranked at no. 2 last year. This year in 2013, the company saw its value increasing by 28% to reach US$98.3 billion. There were three tech biggies in the top 5 of the list with Google securing the number 2 position and IBM and Microsoft securing fourth and fifth positions. While Google was at no. 4 in 2012, IBM was at no. 3, but Microsoft continued to maintain its 5th position from 2012 to 2013.
