Eto'o opens Chelsea account in romp
The win puts Chelsea second in the league, two points behind leaders Arsenal.
Cardiff went ahead in the 10th after Jordon Mutch exploited poor defending, then Samuel Eto'o set up a controversial equaliser for Chelsea in the 33rd at Stamford Bridge.
Eto'o caught out Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall while he was bouncing the ball, leading to Hazard scoring from close range.
Eto'o made it 2-1 with a well-placed low strike in the 66th - his first goal for Chelsea.
Chelsea made sure of the win with Oscar's right-footed shot from outside the area in the 78th before Frank Lampard set up Hazard's second with eight minutes left.
The match started badly for Jose Mourinho's team after a mistake by David Luiz allowed Mutch in to clip the ball over Petr Cech, who was making his 300th league appearance for Chelsea.
Cardiff was incensed by Chelsea's equaliser after Marshall bounced the ball in front of Eto'o, who simply stuck out a leg to make contact with the ball.
Fifa rules state the goalkeeper is still in possession at that point.
Hazard picked the ball up and centreed for Eto'o, who clumsily failed to get a shot away. The ball broke for Hazard whose shot went in with a slight deflection as Eto'o lay prone inside the six-yard box.
Chelsea's third and fourth goals came after Mourinho was dismissed from the touchline for berating the officials to a chorus of "Jose Mourinho, he sits where he wants" as the manager took a seat behind the dugout.
Mourinho is unbeaten in 64 league matches at home.
